THE Beverley RSL is finalising plans for its Anzac Day dawn service.
Beverley RSL president Irene Oram said with a unique audio/visual display, the service promises to be a special event.
The western wall of the Forbes Building at 116 Vincent Street will be used as a screen.
One camera will have footage from the Australian War Memorial and the other will commemorate the lives lost.
The audio/visual display will commence before the dawn service and run for about 45 minutes.
“We are in a special position in having an audio/visual experience without having to erect a screen,” Ms Oram said.
“Steve Ramm, who works closely with the Beverley Station Arts Group in doing the Platform Theatre’s sound and lighting, is helping with the display.
“He came to us about 12 months ago with a proposal to do something a bit special.”
To make the service even more spectacular, the Beverley RSL is also looking at creating mist to theatrically resemble dawn.
“We are also looking for someone to film the service,” Ms Oram said.
There will be members of the Beverley Pony Club attending the dawn service, along with ex-service personnel.
A member of the community will also read from his grandfather’s diary to the assembled crowd.
“Last year we had about 200 people, so we are hopeful there will be more than that this year,” Ms Oram said.
Ms Oram said Anzac Day had a special place in the hearts and minds of the Beverley community.
“Beverley appears to have been a centre for recruitment,” Ms Oram said.
“A lot of people came from surrounding smaller areas to Beverley to sign up.”
Ms Oram also said Beverley was the only location in the nation to return a 100 per cent yes vote in favour of conscription.
