THE days are becoming shorter, and the Lions Club members of Northam will begin the markets with a different view to the early stall holders in May.
During the summer months market morning on the first Saturday of each month encourage the spring in the organisers’ steps as the dawn is bright and the familiar faces are easy to see at 5.30am on market morning.
May markets are the next market day, and the same spring and enthusiasm will be there, but the torch and iPhone light will direct new stall holders to their respective spots.
Coffee is a necessity and the team is working on a early morning coffee outlet to begin in May.
The shuffle of tables, gazebo’s and stock are regimentally placed in position and the expressions on faces are a welcome sight to the organisers.
Northam community markets are working their magic into the third year, and the stallholders must be congratulated on the amazing range of products on offer.
The March markets saw 51 stalls in Bernard Park and it is wonderful to see the support that has kept the scene alive.
The Lions Club gives many other volunteer groups the opportunity to participate by having their chance to make the sausage sizzle their own and raise funds for their organisations.
The amazing magical water playground is a fantastic feature with the stalls, although from May onwards we will see the attendance at the water area dwindle due to the cooler weather.
This is still a wonderful place to spend valuable family time together on a Saturday morning, and enjoy the beautiful surrounds of the Avon River.
The Rotary Club of Northam joins together with The Northam Lions Club and fly their flags in unison to create and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world, and to assist those less fortunate.
Encouragement is strong to serve their community without personal reward and to unite in the bonds of friendship, fellowship and mutual understanding.
Northam is a great place to live, and with the co-operation of all volunteer groups within the community our goals are the same - to extend our help to those who are in need.
The community markets in Northam have created a chance for many citizens in the locality to come together for the same reason, enjoy the fun, make new friends and meet old ones.
It also provides outlets which would not normally be available, plus the chance to buy a little gift from that special stall for a special person.
Thanks Northam for the support at the markets and we certainly hope the attendance will grow, making our goals become reality and achievable.
