DETECTIVES from the Arson Squad's Strike Force Vulcan are seeking the public's assistance with their investigation into a scrub fire believed to have been deliberately lit in Clackline on February 10.
The fire started about 11am in bushland on the southern side of Great Eastern Highway, near the intersection of Eadine Road.
The fire was out of control and unpredictable, posing a possible threat to lives and homes.
Police would like to speak to the driver of a vehicle seen in the area around 11.05am, as he may be able to assist them with their inquiries.
The vehicle is possibly a Holden HZ series, manufactured between 1977 and 1980, with a snorkel fitted to the driver's side (greying in colour due to age).
There was a decal of a bulls head with horns on the top centre of the cab rear window.
The decal and vehicle is similar to those pictured.
The vehicle was parked facing west in the emergency lane with its hazard lights activated.
It may have been coming from Grass Valley or Toodyay.
The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and he is described as being in his mid 20s, with a fair complexion, a medium build and wearing a white loose tank top type singlet and a tan/brown coloured wide brimmed hat.
Anyone with any information regarding the identity of the driver or this fire, is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Callers may remain anonymous if they wish.
