THE National Broadband Network (NBN) is set to be rolled out across the Agricultural region.
Northam, Toodyay, Wongan Hills, Lancelin, Pingelly and Narrogin are some of the places that will receive the new service.
Nationals Member for the Agricultural Region Martin Aldridge MLC welcomed the announcement, made recently by NBN Co's Peter Gurney, saying internet connection in many parts of the Agricultural Region was inadequate and in dire need of improvement.
"This is exciting news for the towns included in the rollout as NBN Co expects to see construction underway over the next 18 months, "Mr Aldridge said.
"Improving technology and internet speed is a vitally important part of enabling people in the Agricultural Region to capitalise on advancements in business, education and entertainment".
The expansion of the rollout will be the first to reflect the company's new, flexible multi-technology approach, and is an important step toward reaching its goal of eight million connections to the NBN by 2020.
NBN Co intends to update its forward plan every three months in order to provide further clarity on the detail of its construction schedule ahead of the rollout activity set to occur in the upcoming quarter.
