LOCAL York farmer, Rhys Turton is running for CBH board elections this year.
He has over 25 years' experience as a grain, hay and livestock producer, as well as local knowledge and significant experience on the co-operative board.
One of his many reasons for running included his passion and strong feeling to see the cooperative go forward.
"I was encouraged to run by some growers in the district, and I've had quite significant experience on other co-operative boards", he said.
He said he can offer a younger growers point of view and a fresh set of eyes in the business, coupled with extensive director experience on a large local and international boards.
If elected Reece promises to actively listen to growers in the region.
"The CBH is a very important part of the grain industry and the Australian economy, and I'm very keen to see the industry go forward, and to have a future vision for the farmers".
"I'm a great supporter of the grain industry and the cooperative, I think CBH can leverage off its existing strengths and assist, to really assist farmers".
"It's very important that the co operative continues with its focus on its storage and handling and transport network as a key component".
"The other component would be to take the business forward into new markets, and have new opportunities and actually returning the value that they create for the growers, giving the growers some ownership of the business on a corporate level".
Rhys said he will also endeavour to improve the image of the CBH after some of the negative comments of late.
The elections will be held on February 19.
