AFTER a busy and fruitful 2014, I am looking forward to celebrating Christmas and the New Year before we start the ball rolling again in 2015.
This year I have again had the pleasure of travelling throughout the electorate and I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting and working with you all.
One of the advantages of being the local Member of Parliament means you get to meet a huge variety of people from shire councillors and farmers to small business owners and school students.
We've had many significant gains in the Wheatbelt this year.
A recent highlight was the announcement that we have secured an enhanced service for AvonLink thanks to $6575 of Royalties for Regions funding, giving Wheatbelt people access to affordable and efficient public transport to Perth and within the Wheatbelt.
Other milestones in Wheatbelt services and facilities thanks to Royalties for Regions include the opening of the Stage 2 redevelopment of Dryandra Residential and Com munity Care in Keller berrin, bringing better aged housing options to the area's elderly residents.
Completion of the $40 million Regional Mobile Communications Project when the last of 113 new mobile towers was launched in the Shire of Brookton mark ed a significant overall improvement in telec om m unications throughout regional WA.
These projects are prime examples of how Royalties for Regions is supporting and transforming regional WA for the better.
And not to forget that this year we celebrated 50 years of the Dowerin Fields Days which has now cemented its place as one of the best field days in Australia.
It's always a pleasure to attend and this year was another huge show. It seems to get bigger and better each year.
Finally I'd like to thank you for your support as I strive to represent the people who make up the electorate of Central Wheatbelt in the State Parliament.
As we head towards Christmas and the holiday season, please take care on the roads and drive safely.
Most of all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and I look forward to catching up with you in 2015.
