PRIMARY Extension and Challenge students from the Wheatbelt finished fifth among 40 teams in a recent Scitech PEAC Challenge in Perth.
The Primary Extension and Challenge program is for gifted and talented students in years 5-7.
The competition is held to provide opportunities for students to use their knowledge and skills in problem-solving, brainstorm challenges, general knowledge and multiple intelligence tests.
The Scitech Brainstorm Challenge Day was a great way to learn and work together.
Students had to work together as a team in their groups to solve problems.
Quae Mclevie from Northam Primary School said these problems were challenging but practical situations which made you think out of the box.
"Each of us had our own roles which were crucial to any success."
Ben Peat from Bakers Hill primary said his favourite challenge was The Crow and the Pitcher.
It was where you had to remove items such as marbles, ball bearings and popsticks out of a pitcher of water without using your hands.
You could buy materials from a shop using points but you could not spend too many.
Ben said you needed to persevere and concentrate to succeed.
The Wheatbelt team won this challenge in excellent fashion.
