THE new face at the front desk of Directions in Fitzgerald Street belongs to Bianca Garlett.
Bianca is the third trainee to become a member of the Directions team.
The daughter of Allen and Dawn Garlett, Bianca now fills the important role as the first point of contact for all Directions clients accessing the Workforce Development Centre, the Aboriginal Training and Employment Prog ram or for assistance with apprenticeships and traineeships.
Bianca completed an Aboriginal school-based traineeship last year and now, sponsored by Directions, is studying at C.Y. O'Connor Institute for a Certificate III in Business.
Over the next 12 months Bianca will further her training with on-the-job experience at Directions while gaining a nationally accredited business qualification.
Bianca's employment highlights Directions' strong commitment to its philosophy of employing and retaining youth in the Wheatbelt.
"We encourage all businesses where possible to consider providing training and employment to local youth, in either a traineeship or apprenticeship, which will ultimately benefit the community as a whole," said Directions group general manager Ian Eardley.
"We can be contacted for advice and help with traineeships and apprenticeships and we welcome any inquiries."
Directions has more than 120 apprentices and trainees who are 'hosted out' to a wide variety of businesses in industries across the region.
