AVON Youth Community and Family Services has been named as a finalist in this year's WA Youth Awards.
They have been nominated in the organisational achievement category against Rockingham Youth Advisory Council, Seen and Heard Swanview, Camp Kulin Camp Counsellors, Wirraka Maya Health Service Aboriginal Co-operation and Oaktree, Subiaco.
Avon Youth chief executive Venessa Miler said the nomination was in recognition of work done across the entire organisation, "on a number of programs which have been run very consistently".
"It is an honour to be nominated and to be a finalist amongst such good company," she said.
Ms Miler said it was an opportunity to acknowledge the work done by regional organisations who aren't as visible.
"To be a finalist is a credit to our passionate, hardworking staff," she said.
"It is the first time we have been nominated in this category earlier this year Avon Youth won in the Community Services Excellence awards in the partnership category."
Announcing the finalists last week, Youth Minister Tony Simpson said these outstanding young people had all triumphed, often in tough circumstances.
"Whether they live in a remote area, have a disability or have suffered prejudice at school, these young people are proof that future leaders can find tenacity and strength in adversity," Mr Simpson said.
"Each of these finalists is making their mark in Western Australia by contributing selflessly to the lives of others. They are amazing role models and mentors."
The WA Youth Awards were established in 1999 to recognise young Western Australians aged 12 to 25 years for their achievements and contributions to the community.
One individual category winner will be chosen as the WA Young Person of the Year and will have the opportunity to travel throughout the State as WA's youth ambassador.
The WA Youth Awards also reward outstanding youth groups and organisations that serve and support the state's young people.
The awards will be held on November 20 in Perth.
Three Avon Youth representatives will attend the awards.
