THE theme for the popular end-of-year production by the Northam Theatre Group is The Nifty Fifties.
Rehearsals are under way at the Link Theatre and director Rhonda Oliver is enjoying the enthusiasm and laughter of the cast.
The dates for the musical production are November 13, 14, 15, and 20, 21 and 22.
The story is centred in Louise's Luncheonette, and the plot is about the organisation of the school dance, the hippity hop.
Of course, not everyone has the same ideas, and personalities develop into two factions.
What happens, and does the dance eventuate?
Northam patrons may be aware of the project the group has in installing new retractable seating in the theatre.
The excellent numbers who attended the recent production of Kipling managed very well with the alternate seating plan.
Again, there will be an alternate plan for the musical as the new seating will still not be installed.
There will be a box plan and numbered seats but the rows will be on a flat floor.
The theatre group said it was disappointing they needed to sell tickets for seating for a flat floor but they were confident patrons would still support the end-of-year production.
To show their appreciation to those intending to come and enjoy the music and dance and laughter of The Nifty Fifties, tickets are discounted to all at $18.
Some of the seats will not give an uninterrupted view as the stage in the Link is not very high.
The Northam Theatre Group apologised to its supporters and said the project was not an easy one and was taking time to solve to the satisfaction of everyone involved.
Progress is being made with both the seating design, the fundraising and the obtaining of quotes.
The Nifty Fifties will be the last production in the Link for the year
Drinks are available from 7.30pm from the newly renovated bar area.
Come in 50s costume to add to the atmosphere and win a prize.
Bookings are now open at Everlastings on Fitzgerald for November 13, 14, 15, and 20, 21 and 22.
