THREE Avon Valley Pony Club riders represented WA in the Jnr Prince Phillip Mounted Games Championships at the Perth Royal show on October 4.
Nerida Evans, Jessica Herzer and Tessa Forbes from Avon Valley Pony Club were in the winning WA team.
They were selected from about 20 riders from various pony clubs from around WA at a selection panel of six official selectors.
To have three riders from the Avon Valley Pony Club is an amazing achievement for a country pony club.
The riders have been training most weekends since February this year with their tireless coach Dan Foster in preparation for the event.
Every state was represented by a team, including Tasmania.
The riders flew into Perth on Thursday before the event.
All riders, including the WA team, had to ride loan ponies donated for the day from various pony club families and riders to make it fair for the eastern states riders who could not bring their own ponies for obvious logistical reasons.
The racing was tight all afternoon with WA behind by two points coming into the last race of the day, the five-flag race.
Unfortunately for NSW which was in the lead, the race was a win for WA, making them the champion junior PPMG team for the year.
