NORTHAM police officer-in-charge Ron Daniels said operation dustoff, a police operation concerning fire arms and ammunition licensing and gun cabinet security will conclude this month.
"We are finding a large number of people are not compliant," Mr Daniels said.
"We find ammunition and firearms stored together or neither are stored securely."
Mr Daniels said it was laziness.
"Should someone break into their home, it is extremely dangerous for the two items to be together," he said.
"These searches we conduct are random and we have lots more to go."
Mr Daniels said if firearm owners were not compliant this was their chance to be.
"Now is the time," he said.
"Given the number of firearm thefts, particularly in regional WA, intruders see this as a soft target."
He said outlined the offences taken place in the Wheatbelt last week.
There were two drug seizures, one in Wellington Street and another in Fitzgerald Street.
A trespass was reported in Duke Street.
A bag and money were stolen at the Toodyay Show.
Damage was done to a house in East Street, Northam with an individual bashing on the front security door with a brick.
They have subsequently been summoned to court on a criminal damage offence. In Duke Street, a passenger side window on a black Hyundai Santa Fe was also smashed in a driveway by an unknown object.
