LAST weekend was the biggest event on the Northam golfing calendar with the WFI insurance Trophy on Friday and the Kennedy Cup and Northam Open over Saturday and Sunday.
Friday's event was a 4BBB par event sponsored by WFI insurance.
The event is strategic and it is important to get the right partner.
After the strong performance in the previous weeks event, it was obvious Peter Richards would be in demand.
Fortunately for Bill Robertson, Richards elected to stick with the proven pairing which has won the previous two WFI trophies.
Obviously under the pressure of winning three events in a row took its toll on the first drive, Richards miss-hit his drive and lost his ball.
Anyone finding a golf ball somewhere between the mens tee and the ladies tee - he would like it back.
Richards and Robertson recovered well to take out the event with a plus 12.
Runners-up were Les Esszig and Grant Scollay with a plus 10 on a countback from Phil Becker and Phil Herbert, who took out the gross trophy.
Third place on a countback was Matt Woods and Peter Roe with a plus nine.
