A group of 24 starters hit the track at the Northam Golf Course for the Northam Running Clubs six kilometres and 3km event last Thursday.
The weather was near perfect and the course with a slight cross country feel was in reasonable condition.
In the 6km there was only two guys willing to do the two lap challenge.
It was Michael Dymnicki who won within a time of 21.50 ahead of Lloyd Reidy in 23.23.
The 3km was where the race was.
With a big group of both runners and walkers it was newcomers team Willmott who had arrived to shake things up.
Out in front it was Brett Willmott, Nick Warburton who went toe to toe for much of the 3km race.
Brett Willmott having the strength when it counted in the end to secure his first wins and hold off Warburton by just six seconds. Willmott in 13:28, Warburton 13:34.
The battle for third was also a tightly fought contest between the Willmotts with little Lauchie Willmott trying everything to beat his mum, Kiara Willmott.
Lauchie did enough in the end to run a 17:15, Kiara Willmott first female and fourth overall with 17:47.
The girls took charge from then with Leonie Vaughan and Nadine Negus fifth in 18.41, Jayne Harris seventh in 21.56.
The next run will be this Thursday held at Bert Hawke starting at 5.15pm.
The distance for the night will be 2.5km.
