A LOTTERYWEST grant of $520,000 was presented to the Shire of Goomalling last Friday by Member for Central Wheatbelt Mia Davies.
The money will go towards the construction of a new pavilion and eight-rink synthetic bowling green with lighting.
The Goomalling community gym will also relocate to the new location.
Shire president Doug Sewell said the construction was long overdue and people would get good use of the new facilities.
Ms Davies said the new pavillion and bowling green would be important fixtures in the community.
"Congratulations to the Shire for backing the project, they didn't give up," she said.
"Being involved in sport at a grassroots level not only brings the community together but it can also foster team work, improve mental and physical health as well as lower crime and truancy."
The tender for the construction went out July 13, with the Goomalling Shire meeting with two architects last Friday.
Another three will be met in another two weeks.
It is hoped the project will be complete by August next year.
Goomalling hosts two of four finals for the Mortlock Football League every year.
