Work: Maintenance on the Avon Bridge.
THE Shire of Northam has been working with Main Roads in determining the maintenance and serviceability needs of the Avon Bridge, also known as the Newcastle Road Bridge.
Interim maintenance works began on June 23 which is being completed by a Main Roads contractor involving the removal of the unsafe footpath and some cosmetic improvements such as the painting of hand railing.
A long term plan is the priority of current discussions which has a strong focus on the best possible outcome for the community and road users.
Current maintenance works are anticipated to be completed by the end of July.
