THE Northam Railways Football Club celebrated its 30 year reunion of the 1984 double premiership on July 5 at the Northam Recreation Centre.
More than 180 people enjoyed a night of catching up and reminiscing on the years gone past.
Members keenly listened to the speeches of past president Kevin Sleight and 1984 premiership player Michael Thompson.
Captain/coach of the 1984 league Mick Morris, David Grafton, reserves captain and Damien Rak (representing his father John, the reserves coach in 1984) were all in attendance.
RFC welcomed long time family names to the club including the Morris, Leeder, Lally, de Blecourt, Davis, Griffiths, Skelton, Hunter, Haddrill, O'Driscoll, Grafton, Parker, Foley, Knipe, Nottle, Moore and Dillon families.
Avon Valley Nissan sponsored the day including the jumpers in which the league team wore in Saturday's match against Quairading.
The jumpers were numbered and had the club's league and reserve premiership years listed together with the club's logo on the front and the sponsor on the back.
During the night patrons had the opportunity to bid in a silent auction for the jumper they were interested in.
The club offered a 1969 and 1984 dual premiership signed framed jumpers that were auctioned off by Phil Eaton.
The 1969 jumper was purchased by Frank Leeder and the 1984 jumper was purchased by David Grafton.
Railways also raffled off a $3000 travel voucher and this was won by Chris Allert.
The night would not have been the success it was if not for the tireless work of Rob Harris, Sogna Riley, Lynnie Page and Mick Morris and their many helpers leading up to and on the day.
Railways thanked Colin Hassel and the staff at the Recreation Centre for their assistance for the function together with Steve Chan and the Lions Club of Northam for running the bar.
