ST JOSEPH's School celebrated its birthday last Thursday with the Founders' Day Celebrations, celebrating 125 years of Catholic education in Northam.
The day started with mass for all the students, staff and invited guests.
This was followed by a whole school assembly where the year 10 students re-enacted scenes depicting the four school house patrons and the year 2 students entertained the crowd with their rendition of The Button Factory.
Staff were formally inducted into the school house system and individual students were acknowledged for their witness to the Vision of the Founders St Emilie de Vialar and St Marcellin.
Guest speaker Sr Patrick Bottriel, who taught at the school in the 1970s, regaled the students with life at St Joseph's School in the days of teaching without heating or air conditioning and with 42 students in one class.
Of course the students all shared some birthday cake and then spent the afternoon competing in the traditional tabloid sport competition.
This year Lenihan House won the Founder's Day trophy.
