Attempted murder charge for Beverley man

WHEATBELT detectives are preparing to charge a 56-year-old Beverley man with attempted murder.

The charge will arise as the result of an incident at a house in Beverley late on Saturday, July 28.

Detectives will allege the man, armed with two edged weapons, forced his way into the house and physically confronted the two occupants.

After a fracas, the alleged offender was disarmed and restrained until the York police arrived and arrested him.

One of the occupants of the house received minor defensive wounds.

The arrested man is in custody for three weeks on a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

In that time detectives expect to upgrade the charge.
