Northam Men’s Shed providing health check

NORTHAM Men’s Shed is spreading its wings. It is participating in the Australian Men’s Shed Association national campaign which is providing free men’s health checks.

The event will be held from 10am on Friday, July 27, at the Men’s Shed in Duke Street.

It will be conducted by doctors and health professionals provided through the Wheatbelt GP Network.

The day is being promoted by a fairly racy poster comparing a man’s body with parts of a car.

According to the Northam Men’s Shed secretary David Doye, the club feels it is mature enough to participate.

“We now have 37 members and are part of a national organisation of over 40,000 members in around 760 sheds,” he said.

“The concrete pad is now down for our shed and we are expecting the frame to arrive next week.”

Checks will cover all aspects of men’s health.

The Northam Men’s Shed is still encouraging new members to enjoy fellowship at the old Fire Station on Fridays at 9am.
