CY O’CONNOR Institute will soon start offering the Certificate III in Electrotechnology electrician training.
While a firm start date has not been announced, those interested in this career area are invited to lodge an expression of interest with the Institute.
Participants in the course will learn how to select, install, set up, test, identify faults, repair, assemble and maintain electrical systems and equipment in buildings including industrial and residential.
It also covers circuit development and protection, transformers, lighting, single phase and three phase motors, installation requirements and the interpretation of electrical drawings.
The institute said electricians are in extremely high demand and are expected to be so for many years.
There is currently over $180 billion in major projects either underway or under active consideration in the resources sector in WA.
The course will provide those taking it with the skills and knowledge to install and maintain electrical components, wiring, equipment and systems and to work in specialised areas within the electrical industry.
A person must be an indentured apprentice to enrol.
