Construction to start on Avon factory

NATIONAL company Hutchinson Builders hopes to begin modular construction at its huge 13,000 square metre factory at Avon Industrial Park (AIP) next month.

The factory shed structure has been completed and the concrete floor is curing.

Electricians are currently on site.

Factory manager Simon Joiner said the construction of stage one of the facility was nearly complete.

“The next phase for Hutchinson Builders will be the fine tuning of our systems and processes to ensure the efficient management of production,” he said.

“This will involve using skilled tradespeople from the Avon region.”

The company has also hired a recruiting officer.

As well as staff at the AIP, site workers will also be needed at mining areas.

Hutchinson will have a mix of paid workers and subcontractors for its WA operations.

The company’s fabrication work is currently done at Lansdale and it plans to bring that capacity to Northam so all its work can be done under the one roof.

Closing Lansdale will mean that Hutchinson will be looking for more welders in the Avon Valley.
