ON SUNDAY the Northam Netball Association was represented by five teams in the Wheatbelt Netball Carnival held at the Northam Recreation Centre.
Under 13, 14, 15 and two open sides competed in the carnival together with teams from Perth, Stirling, Kalamunda, Muchea, Merredin, South Midlands, Eastern Goldfields, Kalgoorlie, Lake Grace, Kellerberrin, Central Wheatbelt and Quairading together with the Wheatbelt Flames.
In the under 13s division the Northam 13s played off in the grand final against the Northam 12s development side.
The 13s, coached by Debbie Smith, won 19 to 14 in a hard fought match which kept the spectators on the edge of their seats.
The 12s development team was coached by none other than Michelle O’Driscoll who had nothing but praise for her young development team.
The under 14s division Northam played Kalamunda 1 in the grand final.
In a terrific match, Kalamunda ran out eventual winners 13 to 10.
The 14s were coached by Jo Dickson, who was thrilled with her sides endeavour for the day in the lead up to the Members Smarter than Smoking Championships in June.
Representing the 14s were Madison Hunter, Chelsea Dickson, Lexie Morris, Gabby King, Sarah Nuich, Sarah Withers, Morgan Drew, Jessica Herzer and Holly Hunter.
