Parenting course repeated

THE Anglican Mothers Union group is again planning to host a parenting course.

Because of the issues involved with getting facilitators to come from Perth for such a course, two members of the Northam group, Yvonne Hitchens and Nola Chamberlain, travelled to Perth to participate in a Parent Encouragement Program (PEP) facilitators’ training course.

This means that future parenting courses held in Northam will be hosted by local facilitators rather than relying on PEP presenters travelling from Perth.

The next PEP course is planned for over five Monday evenings from April 30 to May 28 from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

The course explores topics such as parenting styles, childhood development and children’s self-esteem, building relationships, discipline strategies and family growth.

The sessions are based on Christian principles and each session has a Bible reading appropriate to the course content.

The program strikes a good balance between promoting the Christian faith while being sensitive to the beliefs and values of all participants.

The course helps explore the issues of personal spirituality and gives parents confidence in parenting.

Enrolment forms are available from the Anglican parish office at 11 Wellington Street, or by contacting either Nola Chamberlain on 9622 5684 or Yvonne Hitchens on 9622 5438.
