FORMER MLA Graham Edwards visited Avonvale Primary School on April 3 for an Anzac service after receiving letters from Mr Gould's year seven 7 class.
Mr Edwards thanked the class for inviting him and told the service he enjoyed the ceremony.
Children made wreaths to place before the Australian flag and learnt about the history of the first Anzacs.
Mr Edwards's speech was informative, heartfelt and well received by the students.
The early commemoration of the Anzacs allowed students to int er act with a war memorial trailer brought to the school by Graham and Janet Brooks.
Mr and Mrs Brooks are from Koorda and visit Avonvale each year close to Anzac Day to share a variety of war memorabilia including medals, uniforms, as well as every day items soldiers used through various wars in Austra lia's history.
Other guest included local RSL president Donna Prytulak as well as Sharon Harford from the WA branch of the RSL.
Students then celebrated the end of the commemoration with home made Anzac biscuits and served tea and coffee to the guests.
Mr Edwards now works for the RSL and spoke to Mr Brooks about the possibility of supporting projects such as his to commemorate our returned service men and women.
