RESIDENTS were invited to a free community barbecue last Tuesday evening at Bernard Park to discover the many sporting clubs and community organisations in the Shire of Northam.
Representatives from a wide range of groups and clubs were on hand to provide advice on their activities and memberships.
Organisations included Scouts Australia, PCYC, Rotary, Avon Valley Arts, Wheat belt GP Network, Avonvale Primary School, Northam and Districts Historical Society, Bendigo Bank, Juniper, Roadwise, Irish Dance, Inner Wheel Club of Avon, Bakers Hill Adult Riding Club, Earth Solutions, Northam and Districs Historical Society, Northam Men's Shed, Link Theatre and the Bridgeley Centre.
The Northam Residential College volunteered their time to cook a barbecue dinner.
"It was a nice event and a great opportunity for people to find out more about organisations in their local community," community development officer Jennifer Russell said.
The evening was a joint initiative of the WA Country Health Service, the Shire of Northam, the Department of Sport and Recreation and Act Belong Commit.
