THE Muresk Shearing School provides training to improve the skills and efficiencies of entry-level shearers and wool handlers.
The free training program is a joint initiative supported by the CY O'Connor Institute, Australian Wool Innovation and the Muresk Institute.
The training takes five days with a focus on shearing techniques, the preparation of shearing equipment and wool handling skills.
Participants will learn new skills, while the industry, which is experiencing a shortage of skilled workers, will gain a source of work-ready, entry-level employees.
It provides a pathway to employment for motivated people.
The fully funded program runs for two consecutive five-day blocks (Monday to Friday), starting on April 28.
Participants will receive five days of training, meals and accommodation at the Muresk Institute - the package being valued at around $1000 a week.
This is an opportunity for people looking to gain employment in the wool industry.
Places are strictly limited.
