NORTHAM RSL sub-branch secretary Reg Stevens is launching a book on Saturday at the Northam RSL Memorial Hall.
THE Men Behind the Names: World War One Memorials of Northam Western Australia details about 160 Northam men who died in World War I, and lists more than 600 who enlisted from Northam.
The book, which will be launched at 1pm, covers 440 pages and contains 300 photographs.
Mr Stevens said the book was a five-year project.
"Mark Donaldson VC did the foreword and I don't think you can get better acknowledgement than that," he said.
Mr Donaldson is an ambassador for Soldier On, an organisation which helps to support wounded warriors.
Profits from refreshment sales will go towards the organisation.
The national archives were Mr Steven's main source of information.
"I also put several notices in the 'Can you help?' column in the Monday West Australian and received hundreds of responses," Mr Steven said.
"This book puts a human side to the names."
He will give a copy of the book to the Northam Library and the Northam RSL.
A limited edition of only 400 copies are for cash sale on Saturday.
There will also be a 10th Light Horse display, courtesy of Phil Sullivan.
Copies of the book will be available at the Northam Visitor Centre.
