SHIRLS Warriors the Junior A3 netball team from Wundowie have celebrated success in the Eastern Hills Netball Association
Coached by Shirley Nicholls from Northam, the team went through the season with one loss and blitzed the competition in the second semi-final.
They came up against the Gidgie Blue Dynamites in the grand final on Saturday, September 12.
Glen Keeler, a father of one of the players and loyal supporter lived up to a bet he made with the girls that if they made the grand final he would support by wearing a netball skirt and shirt with pompoms.
With dedicated support and accurate shooting, the girls led at the first break by six goals.
The defence by the Warriors was red hot and the centre-court play was impressive and the girls increased their lead to eight goals by half time.
Gidgie pulled the lead back to five goals in the third quarter but with determination Shirls Warriors, led by all the cheering and support took the final out by four goals.
Sarah Lucassen took out player of the finals and Laura Barker was awarded runner-up fairest and best in the association for the season.
