25 Feb, 2010 10:04 AM
NORTHAM Bowling Club was represented by John Mitchell and Frank Hasen at the Railways of Australia and New Zealand bowls carnival at Ballarat earlier in February.

Seventeen railway bowlers from other clubs in Western Australia also took the trip.

However the only team to win was Frank’s side of four that went through their heats undefeated, but lost to New South Wales in the final.

The team was presented the runners-up trophy at the farewell function and Frank also received a long service badge for attending his sixth carnival.

The highlight of the ladies’ competition at the carnival was when the WA ladies scored an 8 and received a special prize.

The team was skippered by Marian May, third was Wendy Mitchell, second Pat Hoad, lead Tania Harris.

The team came from Bunbury, Northam, Perth and Narrogin.

The next carnival will be held in Forster, north of Newcastle from February 12 to 23 2012.
