THE 2009/10 Tee Ball season is looking at being a ripper with the number of registrations increasing this season by 60 per cent.
That is great news to the committee, who have been working hard since July.
Secretary Amanda Beazley said she cannot believe the amount of sponsorship support that has come in from the businesses in the area.
“It is a credit to those businesses that continue to support their community and The Avon Tee Ball Association is blown away by their generosity,” she said.
“Through the sponsorships this year we have been able to have all 11 teams named after their sponsor and all team members will have their own team shirt to keep, which is great for the players and their families, so a big thank you needs to go out to those sponsors”
Advertising packages, donations and gifts have also been flowing in nicely with business now sponsoring sporting and safety equipment allowing them advertising for a number of seasons.
This season sees the start of a new program, just for four-year-olds.
The session will be a little shorter and involve more skills building and understanding of the game before moving up into a team game situation.
It is great for beginners and those children just starting out.
The first game hits off on October 23 with a greet and meet planned for October 16 involving coaches, teams and sponsors getting to know each other and team shirts will be handed out by their sponsors, followed by a sausage sizzle and drinks.
The Avon Tee Ball Association has been in Northam for almost 20 years and it is one of the main sports for children aged between four and 12 that allows them to learn all sorts of skills. Catching, throwing, hitting along with team work, team spirit and fitness are just some of the benefits to children’s health and well-being.
