GRAFTON Electrics Northam Pacing Cup was held last Saturday night with a big crowd there to witness one of the most exciting cups in years.
Mark (Bomber) Thompson set the scene for the race with his presentation of each horse as it entered onto the track.
Local star Big Jedd went to the front for driver Nathan Turvey and was quickly challenged by race favourite Arma Harris.
With two laps to go, Sir Arts Place tried to challenge for the front but had to be restrained.
This set up a fast pace up front with 400m to go.
Big Jedd had run his race and favourite Arma Harris went to the front but the swoopers were about to pounce with Degaldearno and Cassie Rox fly home after having easy runs behind the leaders. Cassie Rox trained by Kevin Keys went on to win by 2m from Degaldearno and favourite Arma Harris running a good place to hang on and run third.
Jesse Moore and Morgan Woodley combined to win Race 3 with the consistent Hear No Secret. They also ran second with two-year-old Soho Dionysus in Race 1.
Max and Dos Smith would have been happy with the efforts of grandkids Bradley and his wife Kelly Groves of Pinjarra.
Kelly running second with her horse Our Cloudy Dawn in Race 3 and Bradley winning with Bronze Icon and paying the good dividend of $13.70 for a win and $2.10 for a place.
The next meeting will be held on Saturday, February 13.
