Youth club welcomes its new wheels

04 Mar, 2010 09:30 AM
NORTHAM Police and Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) has a new bus, thanks to a “magnificent community”, according to PCYC coordinator Senior Constable Dave Jezierski.

The new bus was handed over last Tuesday morning.

“Our old bus was 10 years old and we needed to change it,” Snr Const. Jezierski said.

“But money was the problem and we started off by getting a grant from Lotterywest.

“Word spread and out of the blue Paul Tomlinson from Avon Community Development Foundation (ACDF) approached me and offered his assistance and advice.

“This resulted in our receiving wonderful financial support from ACDF, the Wheatbelt Development Commission and Royalties for Regions.

“Bryan Lee of Northam Toyota topped this all off by giving us a quotation for the new bus thousands of dollars less than all the others received State-wide.”

The bus will be mainly used to transport PCYC members to sporting and cultural events.
