MONDAY of last week ended 12 years’ schooling for what Northam Senior High School principal John Pisan described as “one of the best groups” to go through the school.
“They are a fabulous group of young people,” he said after the more than 90 students in academic gowns were welcomed into the school multi-purpose hall for the Year 12 Presentation Evening.
The hall was packed with parents, relatives and friends, there to see the students presented with their graduation folders.
“Today you shift from a narrow protective environment into a wider and more complex world,” an said.
“It will be a lot more exciting as the tyranny of distance is virtually gone.
“Live your life and live it well”.
The advice of deputy principal Ron de Boer was more prosaic.
“Live longer, don’t smoke and pay off your credit cards,” he said.
Both the head boy and girl Samuel Fehlauer and Imogen Fox gave brief farewell addresses.
“This has been a great honour both in and out of school,” Samuel said.
“A dream becomes a goal when there are moves towrds its achievement,” was Imogen’s closing remark.
