Trolleys to be raced from Toodyay to Northam

11 Mar, 2010 01:45 PM
THE Toodyay and Northam Lions Club are trying an unusual fundraising event with the IGA Shopping Trolley Dash from Toodyay to Northam on Sunday, May 16.

Teams of four will race their trolleys to Northam starting from Duigee Park at two-minute intervals, starting at 8am.

One of the team members will push the trolley while the other three will cycle.

There will be only one team member with the trolley at Duigee Park while the three cyclists wait at the information bay on the corner of Toodyay and Northam roads.

All trolleys will have to clear Toodyay within an hour.

Toodyay and Northam Lions Club members will man water/first aid stations along the route.

Funds raised will go towards Toodyay and Northam community projects with IGA sponsoring with $1000 in food vouchers.

Organisers hope for more than 30 teams and encourage additional team sponsorship.
