Smith goes marching in

11 Mar, 2010 01:36 PM
NORTHAM footballer Alistair Smith is making waves after his debut performance in the AFL playing for St Kilda.

Smith has now played two games for the Saints in the pre-season NAB Cup and the team is pleased with his performance on the field.

Reports in the West Australian and The Age say he is making a bold bid to break into the much-vaunted St Kilda midfield charged with leading the club to a first premiership in 44 years.

Smith was drafted at number 62 in the 2008 draft and during his time in Melbourne managed 12 games in the VFL with Sandringham last year.

In his first AFL game Alistair collected 18 possessions and two scoring assists in the Saints’ 1-point win over the Collingwood Magpies.

Smith grew up playing football in Northam and attended St Joseph's School until he moved to Perth to attend school at Wesley College.
