THERE is confusion about what will happen with agricultural education at the Muresk campus of Curtin University.
And there is growing anger in farming circles which believe that potential students are being actively discouraged from enrolling at the campus.
However more than 50 first-year students enrolled last week at the campus, an increase of 20 over last year.
At last year's campus open day potential students were assured they would complete their three-year courses at Muresk.
Curtin University is adamant that no final decisions have been made on the fate of the facility.
“There is a report from Nationals MLC Philip Gardiner which I understand is now in the hands of Brendon Grylls,” a university spokeswoman said.
“The Minister for Education has requested a review by former Deputy Premier Hendy Cowan.
“We will not be making any final decisions until we have studied these reports.”
The spokeswoman said no decision had been made to close the campus.
The university, despite a freeze on new appointments, has appointed a campus manager for Muresk.
It is understood Russell Glass will take up the position this week.
Mr Glass was heavily involved in preparing Fremantle for the 1987 America's Cup.
Academic staff have also been advised their positions will be relocated to the Bentley campus.
However they have not been advised when these moves will take place.
