Local staff settle in to McDonald's

21 Jan, 2010 02:32 PM
LOCAL staff are now in charge at McDonald’s Northam.

The new restaurant, which opened on Wednesday, December 23, had teething problems with its newly installed state-of-the art equipment, but it is now running smoothly and, more importantly, staff are confident of its use.

Restaurant owner Anne Hill said metropolitan staff, who had mentored locals, had all gone back to Perth.

“We’ve pretty well reached our recruitment target,” she said.

“But we always have room for the right people.”

Staff are responding to McDonald’s training programs.

“We are a registered training provider for TAFE,” Anne said.

“Twelve of our staff have signed up for a Certificate II in retail.”

Three local staff members on duty last Friday have completed Certificate II in retail or have enrolled.

Manager on duty Shauna Webb has completed a Certificate III in hospitality.

All are enjoying their work at the new restaurant.

Previously Shauna worked in the Northam Regional Hospital kitchen and is pleased with the change.

Kylie Allan comes from another fast food outlet while Andy Ryan was a labourer in housing restoration.

The youngest recruit is Alex Marquis who is a school leaver.

All are happy with their new jobs.
